Why Florida homes flood from the outside in

Storm surge arrives fast

Hurricane surge and tidal flooding push seawater inland with almost no warning. Coastal and low-lying homes can take on water in a single tide cycle. By the time the forecast turns serious, the barrier already needs to be up.

Rainy season floods the ground

From mid-May through October, Florida sees 60 to 70 percent of its yearly rain. Saturated soil and overwhelmed storm drains send water across yards, driveways and thresholds. Waterproofing deals with what pushes through your walls. A barrier stops the water rolling across the yard before it ever gets there.

Floodwater leaves a mess behind

Floodwater carries sewage, silt and contaminants into everything it touches. Drywall wicks it upward, flooring lifts and mold can start within 24 to 48 hours. Keeping the water out costs far less than gutting the inside later.

Garrison Flood Control

Garrison Flood systems, installed by Bullfrog across Florida.

Bullfrog is an authorized Garrison Flood dealer and installer. Garrison builds independently tested flood control systems used on homes, businesses and critical facilities across the country. We measure your property, recommend the right system and install it to spec. The two best options for protecting doorways, garages and sliders in Florida are the Hammerhead and YellowFIN flood barrier systems.

Garrison Hammerhead aluminum flood planks stacked in channel posts across a garage opening

Garrison Hammerhead

Stackable stop log flood barrier system for doorways, windows, garage & wall openings

The Hammerhead™ aluminum panel flood barrier system is a durable stop log flood barrier that enables you to protect doorways and other openings against flooding.

U-Channel Posts are installed on either side of the opening to be protected and remain in place permanently. The unobtrusive posts are designed to receive a series of aluminum planks, which are stacked as needed to the height required.

The Hammerhead™ stackable “stop log” flood barrier is able to withstand high water heights and will protect your building, residence, or facility against all types of flooding.

This flood gate system is also ideal for areas where high wind or debris is expected as the fixed posts and clamped planks are durable, rigid and designed to handle heavy stresses.

Hammerhead is the only aluminum system that features the patent pending SureGasket™ and AlumiSeal™ enhanced sealing system for added leak protection.

Best for: front and rear doors, garage doors, sliders, low thresholds.

Garrison YellowFIN flood barrier panels mounted directly across a home's opening without vertical posts

Garrison YellowFIN

Direct-mount flood barrier system for doorways, windows, garage & wall openings

YellowFIN™ is Garrison Flood Control's most refined flood panel system to date. It's engineered for openings where appearance, performance and rapid deployment matter equally.

Designed to mount directly to doorways, windows, garages and wall openings, YellowFIN eliminates the need for permanently affixed vertical posts, while delivering exceptional resistance against extreme hydrostatic and hydrodynamic pressures, as well as debris and impact loads associated with severe weather events.

This high-end patent-pending flood panel system broadens Garrison's flood protection lineup, offering a design that pairs architectural subtlety with rugged, industrial-level performance.

Best for: Front and rear doors, garage doors, sliders, low thresholds.

How we get your home storm-ready

Flood protection only works when it fits your home exactly. Here is how we get there.

1

On-site assessment

We will walk your property, evaluate your points of vulnerability and recommend the flood barrier options that best fit your individual needs and budget.

2

Measured recommendation

Both Hammerhead and YellowFIN are highly effective for doorways, sliders, garages and other openings. The difference is that YellowFIN needs no permanently attached vertical posts, which suits homeowners who prioritize appearance, while Hammerhead is the more cost-effective system.

3

Professional installation

Our crew sets the channels, anchors and panels to spec so the system seals when it counts instead of leaking at the seams.

4

Your storm plan

We show you how to deploy the removable sections and how long it takes, so your household can have the barrier up well before landfall. We answer the phone 24/7 if you need us.

Two lines of defense.
One company.

Flood barriers and foundation waterproofing solve two halves of the same problem. Barriers hold rising water and storm surge outside, away from the structure. Foundation waterproofing stops water intrusion from heavy rain storms and hydrostatic pressure through your foundation. Leave out either one and water still finds its way in.

Bullfrog is one of the only companies in Florida that does both, plus mold remediation and water damage mitigation, all under one roof. One contractor reads the whole picture, installs the barrier, seals the foundation and handles the cleanup if water has already gotten inside. You get one point of contact and one plan, without the risk of multiple companies pointing fingers at each other if something goes wrong.

Common questions

Do flood barriers replace foundation waterproofing?
No, they solve different problems. Flood barriers stop storm surges and heavy flooding from entering your home through architectural openings. Foundation waterproofing stops water from seeping through your foundation into the lower walls of your interior. Homes in flood-prone areas will benefit greatly from both. Bullfrog allows you to navigate both problems with one trusted company.
Which barrier does my home need, Hammerhead or YellowFIN?
Both protect the same openings: doors, sliders, garages and wall openings. Hammerhead uses permanent U-channel posts on either side of the opening and stacks aluminum planks to the height you need, which makes it the more cost-effective system. YellowFIN mounts directly to the opening with no permanently affixed posts, so nothing stays visible between storms. Many homes use a mix. We spec it during the free assessment.
How fast can the barriers go up before a storm?
Hammerhead planks and YellowFIN panels deploy and lock in place in minutes. The MAKO inflatable barriers fill in about five minutes. Products like the Mayim line snap together in seconds and can be repositioned wherever you need them. The larger commercial BlueFin line is usually left in place longer term, but it can still be broken down and stored in hours.
Are Garrison flood barriers reusable?
Yes. These are engineered systems built to be used storm after storm, not single-use sandbags. Deployable sections store flat and go back up whenever the next threat comes. Permanent panels stay in place for years.
Do you install statewide?
Yes. We install Garrison flood barrier systems across Florida, with crews centered on Orlando, Tampa and Sarasota. Call 888-603-MOLD to check scheduling for your area.
Does Bullfrog offer financing?
Yes. Flood protection is an investment most homeowners make ahead of a season, not a bill they planned for. We work with Acorn Finance so you can compare payment options from multiple lenders. Check your options with no impact to your credit score.
