How much does a mold inspection cost in Florida?
For homeowners, the inspection is free. A technician walks the home with a moisture meter, looking for water getting in and for growth you can see. Lab testing is not part of it. A licensed mold assessor does that as a separate paid service, because every sample carries a lab fee.
Is mold testing worth the cost?
Sometimes. If you can already see mold, you usually do not need a lab to confirm it, and a visual inspection with moisture mapping is enough. How long does a mold inspection take?
A mold inspection takes one to three hours for a typical home, depending on its size. Larger homes and hard-to-reach areas like attics and crawl spaces take longer.
Can I test for mold myself with a store kit?
Home kits tell you mold exists, which the air already told you, but they do not tell you the concentration, the source or whether it is a real problem. They almost always come back positive because mold spores are everywhere. A professional inspection with moisture mapping finds the source, which is what actually lets you fix it.
